Last Day on Earth by wchild Last Day on Earth by wchild

A butterfly I found trapped inside an abandoned house.

- c l i c k -

After taking this shot I caught her and let her out.
My good deed of that day I suppose.

Taken in the countryside of Nivala, Finland.

"Last Day on Earth" is one of the deviations that stay in your mind after seeing it. Why?
At first, the concept of a butterfly trapped inside, wanting to fly away into the nature is like a metaphor. A metaphor that every human understands, because we all feel trapped inside an environment we don't like sometimes. Although it has this message, this metaphor, it doesn't look planned - it's simply there, a picture of something that happened without being noticed by most of the people (think of "Butterfly effect").

What catches my eye are the little scratches on the window; they give the picture its structure, they seem to fit perfectly and make the composition perfect.

The light completes the whole atmosphere in this one; dark at the top and at the bottom, but with light int he center, right where the butterfly wants to escape.

Maybe the butterfly could be a bit sharper, the edges a bit darker, but that's my personal opinion.

"Last Day on Earth" is a beautiful piece of art - with a wonderful atmosphere in it.

absolutely beautiful !!!

To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

Essential for this picture is knowing how fragile a butterfly is and their constant search for light and warmth. Flapping the wings against the impossible window will ultimately destroy the wings which makes impossible to escape for ever.
